SSA Advisory Councils

Diversity and Inclusion Staff (DIS) provides oversight, leadership, policy guidance and support to the agency’s Advisory Councils. Advisory Councils work with the Commissioner and the Executive Staff to help provide world-class service to the diverse public we serve and to our employees. They also promote SSA’s programs in their respective communities and assist the agency in its recruitment initiatives. The councils are involved in a variety of initiatives, including outreach programs and employee training conferences, which address public service and personal career development. Advisory councils are open to all SSA employees who support their objectives, without regard to race, sex, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or veteran status.
